Please join us at Cherokee Country Club on May 16 for a presentation by Clerk and Master Scott Griswold. Mr. Griswold plans to talk about the improvements being made to the Knox County Probate Division (and the entire Tennessee judiciary) and will offer some insights in how his perspective has changed from an attorney practicing in probate and estate planning to a judicial officer having to decide issues in probate. Mr. Griswold will also highlight recent statutory changes, such as the Small Estate Act, muniment of title, and non-judicial settlement agreements, and how they can be helpful to practitioners, even those working with high net worth individuals.
Chancellors John F. Weaver and Christopher D. Heagerty and Chancellor-Elect Richard B. Armstrong appointed J. Scott Griswold as the Clerk and Master of the Knox County Chancery Court. Mr. Griswold was sworn in on August 31, 2022 and he succeeded Howard G. Hogan. Mr. Griswold is a shareholder with Long, Ragsdale & Waters, P.C. and was in private practice since 2008. Prior to starting private practice, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. William M. Barker, who was Chief Justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court. He is also an Assistant Examiner for the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners and a Fellow of the Knoxville Bar Foundation. Mr. Griswold holds undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Political Science from Middle Tennessee State University and earned his law degree from The University of Tennessee College of Law.
We will be joined by members of the Financial Planning Association of East Tennessee and are excited to have so many attendees at this event! Please RSVP by Monday, May 13, keeping in mind that this RSVP resrves your meal. We'll see you on May 16.
