We Need to Talk: Difficult Conversations with Older Adults

Mr. Kyle’s presentation will identify topics that may arise in working with older adult clients, and approaches to addressing their needs and concerns. He will discuss the legal, ethical, and practical challenges inherent in representing aged adults and those with diminished capacity. Topics include scope and limits of representation, questions of capacity, and balancing the competing desires of the client and family members. The course will also provide practical tips to improve communication on difficult subjects such as end of life decisions and removal of driving privileges.
